Day 2 - Saturday 22nd August 2009

Today was the first of two full days at sea on our way to the Carribean. we registered the children for the on-board kids's club, Camp Carnival. They have a set of very nice play rooms divided by age. David was in the 2-5 room, while Ruth was next door in the 6-8 room. Older children (9-11 & 12-14) had their own rooms with fewer soft toys and more Playstations and Nintendos on the deck below.

After lunch we all went to the Lido deck to play in the pools. The pools have a splash/paddle area around them, and Geoff wandered around in that while everyone else got into the pool proper. David had lots of fun jumping to Grumpy then running through the splash zone with Daddy before letting the waves wash him back into the deep pool. Ruth accompanied Mommy and Grandma into the hot tub for a while instead.


Later in the afternoon, the children went back to Camp Carnival while the adults started getting ready for Formal Night.

Formal Night dinner was a great success. Everyone was in their finest, with Ruth in particular looking beautiful in her new dress from Godmother Amy. The only thing to detract from dinner was a rather long-winded interruption from the Captain of the PA, and his instruction to the wait-staff to sings us a song. Fortunately, our waiters were far too busy providing great food service to join in with the singing.

After dinner, Ruth and David went back to Camp Carnival for a pajama party while the adults went for a couple of drinks, and a few dances at the 70s's & 80's disco. We had fun, but the DJ was messing with the mix a bit too much, and spoiling some otherwise good dance tunes by adding extra bass & drum tracks over them.
