More home improvements

We completed one more small step in our home improvements plan on Saterday. We cleared out part of the weird closet in the upstairs hallway and installed the tumble dryer in it. We aim to get the washing machine moved upstairs too, then we can do laundry without all the carrying up&down.
Chrissy is also very pleased to have a hanging rail above the dryer, but please note, that's not a shirt you can see in the picture, it's Geoff's LRP armour. And no, it hasn't been in the dryer!

Splash!

We took Ruth to her second swimmng lesson tonight. Ruth is enjoying them. While she has her lesson, the rest of us watch for 20 mins, then go get changed ourselves and join her in the pool after the lessons finish.

David and Ruth are really keen on swimming at the moment, and we're all enjoying it. This week and last, we had one of Ruth's schoolfriends along as well. Trying to to keep up with catching three children who all want to jump in the big pool can take a bit of organisation, but the lesson of "don't jump in until an adult is ready to catch you" seems to be sinking in quite quickly.

No pictures from the pool, I'm afraid. They don't allow cameras.

After we got back tonight, David had a screaming tantrum about going to bed. In the end he was just too tired to calm down or listen, and we had to just close the door and leave him. He was asleep in less than 10 minutes. He looks so cute when he's asleep.

Third time lucky...

OK folks, sorry about the repeated re-arrangements. After some discussion, we have decided to move Geoff's blog to it's own new address, and have the family blog at the lincoln-brown.blogspot.com address.

So, here are what should be the final locations for our blogs:-

Fending off the cold

Out kitchen has always been freezing cold in winter. It's a single-storey extension on the back of the house, with thin walls and roof, large windows, and no heating.

When we had the roof re-done as part of the renovation grant, we arranged to get to roof raised slightly, and get four inches of insulation put in, which has helped a little, but more was still needed.

With that in mind, Chrissy brought out an electric convection heater that we'd originally bought for the flat, and this afternoon I got it installed.
It's got a nice little thermostat and timer function, so we can set it to come on in the morning just before we come down to make breakfast, and other useful times, without worrying about wasting power by leaving it on.

And so you can see how nice it looks, here it is:-

Hello, Good (local_time_of_day), and Welcome...

Hello everybody, and welcome to the new Lincoln-Brown family blog. We've created this blog for all the family news and pictures, so we can maintain it as a team, and keep our personal blogs for anything else we want to share.

To get this blog started, we have coppied over all the family posts from our personal blogs from (roughly) August 2008 onwards.

We hope you enjoy reading it,

Geoff & Chrissy

Jet-lag

Or as I prefer to call it, Travle-Shock!.

OK, after 24 hours on the move, and 32hours with no sleep in my case, we're home safely.

Goodnight.

Going home

Well, we set off for the airport at 2pm tomorrow (US time) and should get home about 2pm (UK time) the day after.
We're about halfway packed - everything is together, just needs sorting into suitcases of equal weight.

So now it's time for an early night, and a good start tomorrow morning. It's been a good trip.
