Fending off the cold

Out kitchen has always been freezing cold in winter. It's a single-storey extension on the back of the house, with thin walls and roof, large windows, and no heating.

When we had the roof re-done as part of the renovation grant, we arranged to get to roof raised slightly, and get four inches of insulation put in, which has helped a little, but more was still needed.

With that in mind, Chrissy brought out an electric convection heater that we'd originally bought for the flat, and this afternoon I got it installed.
It's got a nice little thermostat and timer function, so we can set it to come on in the morning just before we come down to make breakfast, and other useful times, without worrying about wasting power by leaving it on.
